GTA 6 fans find Jason and Lucia's apartment in real life — the building was demolished years ago

Days after the Netflix extended look revealed Jason and Lucia's apartment, Grand Theft Auto fans have done what they always do: they went looking for the real thing. According to IGN, an Instagram user going by prettyboycuh was the first to publicly share the location, explaining that they used Google Maps to find the tall teal building shown in the gameplay footage. Their first reaction, they said, was simple: "that was easy."
The easy part, however, only lasted a moment. When they switched to Street View to look at where the couple's apartment should be, all they found was a patch of grass.
Turning back the clock
The trick, it turns out, was time itself. By changing Google Maps' view from March 2026 to April 2013 — roughly four months before GTA 5 launched — the building reappeared as if it had never gone anywhere. That detail matters: it means the structure had already been demolished by the time the fan looked, and only archived imagery kept it alive (IGN France picked up the same story for its French-speaking audience).
The similarities between the old photos and the game are difficult to dismiss: the same teal color, the same fence, many of the surrounding buildings matching one by one, and even the parking lot Jason pulls out of during the extended look. As IGN notes, none of this is officially confirmed — Rockstar has not said a word about the building — but the visual match is striking enough that GameRant and Dexerto both ran the story within hours.
What happened to the building
The building in question was the Belmar Condominium, a Miami apartment complex established in 1973. prettyboycuh dug up a report from the South Florida Business Journal showing that the property was sold for $12 million in 2022, and that it was demolished sometime after the buyout (IGN).
In other words, anyone hoping to visit the spot that inspired one of the most recognizable locations in Jason and Lucia's story is out of luck: the real building no longer exists. As IGN put it, "don't expect to ever visit it yourself."
A time capsule in game form
The story is a reminder of how far Rockstar's recreation of Miami goes. Vice City has always been a stylized, exaggerated take on the Florida city, but GTA 6's version leans heavily on real-world reference — so much so that players can pinpoint individual buildings, fences and parking lots with a few clicks in Google Maps.
The demolition twist adds a melancholic layer: when GTA 6 launches on November 19, millions of players will walk through an apartment that was already gone in real life years before the game shipped.
