GTA VI: editions and preorder guide — which one to choose before November 19?
The available editions
GTA VI launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S (the PC version still has no date). Two editions are available for preorder:
- Standard: the game only, no bonus content.
- Ultimate: exclusive content reserved for buyers of this edition — exclusive shops and barber shop, vehicles, weapons, clothes and even a unique tattoo artist (GAME Watch, Japanese press).
The Ultimate formula is already controversial: players criticize exclusive content that creates a divide between players (新浪财经, Chinese press), a subject that has been agitating communities since preorders opened.
How much does it cost?
- United States: the Standard starts at $79.99, a price increase compared to industry norms — Take-Two justifies: "game prices have not kept up with inflation" (TOY PEOPLE).
- Japan: ¥9,800 (Standard) and ¥12,280 (Ultimate) (電ファミニコゲーマー).
- South Korea: ₩89,800 and ₩112,800 (게임인사이트).
- Europe: French press notes that preorders confirm players accept games around €100 (Frandroid).
Rockstar reports "unprecedented" preorder levels (Take-Two, Chosunbiz), and analysts are closely watching the monetization of the Ultimate edition (Yahoo Finance).
The preorder bonus
Reserving the game gives access to the Vice City Pack (or "Vintage Vice City Pack" depending on the region): a classic sedan, weapons and outfits inspired by the 80s, in the spirit of Vice City (ファミ通, GAME Watch). The bonus is offered on both editions — only its content differs depending on the edition chosen.
The disc controversy
Important point before buying: the physical editions do not contain a disc, but a download code. Several retailers have refused to sell them, and Take-Two owns it: "the disc no longer makes sense for the consumer" (GameSpark). Note for Japanese players: the code of the Japanese PS5 version expires 170 days after launch (GameSpark). Make sure to check the conditions before buying a physical version.
Which one to choose?
- Tight budget or casual gamer → the Standard is enough: the base game will not contain microtransactions at launch (see our analysis), and the preorder bonus is included.
- Collector / invested player → the Ultimate if the exclusive contents (shops, vehicles, tattoo artist) speak to you — knowingly: they will remain reserved for this edition.
- General advice: do not buy a PS5 Pro hoping for 60 FPS in GTA VI (the game targets 30 FPS on all consoles at launch) — a regular PS5 or an Xbox Series X is enough for November 19.
